The Guest Ranch

Deep Creek Guest Ranch is located in the southern section of Shackelford County. All of the County has a rich history that encompases much of what the settlement of the West brings to mind.
There are remnants of prior generations on the ranch. The remains of a stone/rock house, with its nearby weathered barn, pens and corrals and stone and metal cistern all ignite the imagination of what life must have been like decades ago.
High on a hill the jumbled stones of a foundation raise questions as to the occupants and what their purpose was.
Outlaws and Indians roamed through this rugged terrain, leaving behind evidences of their presence.
Near the Big Oak Tree, all evidence of a residence is gone, except for pieces of chain on a tree limb. Nearby are more pens. Observing these remains and looking for others makes for an interesting day on the Ranch.
